Residential System

An inverter [2] converts the DC electricity produced by your solar panels [1] into AC power, which is then sent through the main switch box [3] to either your electric load [6] or the electricity grid [5].

If the production of your solar system exceeds consumption, the power meter will run backwards and you will receive savings on your electricty bill.

If your solar system cannot produce enough electricity to cover the consumption, the grid can still supply the extra amount of electricity necessary.

Solar panels do not produce electricity at night and the grid covers consumption. A perfect size solar system will balance grid supply at night with excessive production during the day.

A rooftop photovoltaic system, is a photovoltaic system that has its electricity-generating solar panels mounted on the rooftop of a residential or commercial building or structure. The various components of such a system include photovoltaic modules, mounting systems, cables, solar inverters and other electrical accessories.

The following benifits are available for installation of grid connected rooftop:

  • Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will provide Central Financial Assistance (CFA) which will be 30% of benchmark cost for general category states/UTs and 70% of benchmark cost for special category states i.e., North eastern states including Sikkim, Uttrarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  • State Subsidies are also available along with MNRE's CFA. For example, State of Gujarat provides subsidy of rs 10000rs per KW through GEDA. The max limit of subsidy is 20000rs.
  • Return of Investment (ROI) within 3 years.
